Michigan State University has one Mitchell Scholar and national finalists for prestigious graduate school scholarships

Mitchell Scholar and National Graduate School Scholarship FinalistsEast Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State University has one Mitchell Scholar and national finalists for prestigious graduate school scholarships including the Mitchell Scholarship, the Rhodes Scholarships, and the Schwarzman Scholars Program.

Maysa Sitar has been named a Mitchell Scholar. Sitar is an Honors College senior majoring in political science in the College of Social Science. The Mitchell Scholarship awarded 12 scholarships this year.

  • Jasmine Jordan was a finalist for the Mitchell Scholarship. Jordan is an Honors College senior majoring in political science in the College of Social Science.

Sitar and Jordan were also finalists for the U.S. Rhodes Scholarship.

MSU’s finalist for the Global Rhodes Scholarship was:

  • Abii-Tah Chungong Bih, an Honors College senior majoring in international relations, and comparative cultures and politics in James Madison College. Bih is a MasterCard Foundation Scholar from Cameroon.

MSU’s finalist for the Schwarzman Scholars Program was:

  • Shiksha Sneha, a senior majoring in political theory and constitutional democracy, and social relations and policy in James Madison College.

The National and International Fellowships and Scholarships (NIFS) Office, administered by the Honors College, helps interested undergraduate and graduate students pursue major national and international opportunities by providing information and direct support throughout the competitive application processes.

MSU has produced 18 Marshall Scholars, four Mitchell Scholars and 20 Rhodes Scholars (19 U.S., and one from Zambia).

The US-Ireland Alliance established the George J. Mitchell Scholarship Program, which allows up to 12 future American leaders to pursue a year of graduate study in Ireland and Northern Ireland.

The Rhodes Scholarship is the oldest and perhaps most prestigious international scholarship program, enabling outstanding young people from around the world to study at the University of Oxford. The U.S. Rhodes Scholarship awards 32 scholarships, and the Global Rhodes Scholarship awards two scholarships.

The Schwarzman Scholars Program was established in 2016 to prepare young leaders to deepen understanding between China and the rest of the world, and provides a one-year master’s degree at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China.
