MSU has three nominees for prestigious national award

East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State University has three nominees for the prestigious Udall Scholarship.

MSU’s nominees for the Udall Scholarship are:

• Amber Proudfoot, an Honors College sophomore from Brooklyn, Michigan majoring in fisheries and wildlife in Lyman Briggs College. Proudfoot attended Columbia Central High School.
• Roxy Sprowl, an Honors College junior from Marquette, Michigan majoring in social work in the College of Social Science with minors in race and ethnicity of the United States and American Indian and Indigenous studies. Sprowl is Ojibwe from the Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians and attended Marquette Senior High School.
• Hope Thome, an Honors College junior from Grand Rapids, Michigan majoring in environmental studies and sustainability in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources with minors in leadership in integrated learning, mathematics, Spanish, and environmental and sustainability studies. Thome attended West Catholic High School.

The Udall Foundation awards scholarships to college sophomores and juniors for leadership, public service, and commitment to issues related to American Indian nations or the environment. Each year, the foundation awards up to $7,000 for educational expenses to approximately 55 outstanding students in the United States.

The National and International Fellowships and Scholarships (NIFS) Office, administered by the Honors College, helps interested undergraduate and graduate students pursue major national and international awards by providing information and direct support throughout the competitive application processes.
