Michigan State University has nominated two Honors College seniors majoring in international relations in James Madison College for the nationally competitive James C. Gaither Junior Fellows program.
Each year, through the James C. Gaither Junior Fellows program, the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace offers approximately 12-14 one-year fellowships to uniquely qualified graduating seniors and individuals who have graduated during the past academic year. Fellows work as research assistants to Carnegie’s senior scholars.
MSU’s nominees are Julia Christensen and Ayelet Zamek.
The National/International Fellowships and Scholarships (NIFS) Office, administered by the Honors College, helps interested undergraduate and graduate students pursue major national and international opportunities by providing information and direct support throughout the competitive application processes.
Christensen is a research assistant for the MSU Asian Studies Center and previously conducted research as an intern for the U.S. Department of State.
Zamek aides the Center for European, Russian, and Eurasian Studies as a research assistant under James Madison College Professor Norman Graham and held an internship this past summer with the City of Detroit’s Department of Water and Sewerage.
“Their work alongside MSU faculty has prepared Julia and Ayelet to be research assistants for the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace,” said Cynthia Jackson-Elmoore, dean of the Honors College.
